Prof. Tarek Hamel, Fellow of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society

Bio: Tarek Hamel (Fellow, IEEE) is Professor at the University Côte d’Azur since 2003. He received his Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), France, in 1996. After two years as a research assistant at the UTC, he joined the Centre d’Etudes de Mécanique d’Ile de France in 1997 as Associate Professor. His research interests include nonlinear control theory, estimation, and vision-based control with applications to Unmanned Robotic Systems. He is an IEEE Fellow and a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He was Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Robotics, IEEE Transactions on Control System Technology, and Control Engineering Practice.

Prof. Nianyin Zeng

Xiamen University, China

Dr. Nianyin Zeng is currently a Professor with the Department of Instrumental and Electrical Engineering of Xiamen University. He received the B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering and automation in 2008 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering in 2013, both from Fuzhou University. From October 2012 to March 2013, he was a RA in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. From September 2017 to August 2018, he was an ISEF Fellow founded by the Korea Foundation for Advance Studies and also a Visiting Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).


His current research interests include intelligent data analysis, machine learning and computer vision, computational intelligent, system modeling and applications. He has published more than 80 research papers in referred journal and conferences as well as 13 patents. By Google Scholar, his publications have been cited by more than 7,000 times with H-Index 34.


Dr. Zeng is currently serving or has served as an Associate Editor for Neurocomputing Frontiers in Medical Technology, and Evolutionary Intelligence, an Editorial Board member for Computers in Biology and Medicine, Biomedical Engineering Online, Mathematical Problems in Engineering, Journal of Electronics & Information Technology, and Journal of Image and Graphics, and also Guest Editors for Frontiers in Neuroscience and Frontiers in Medical Technology. He has also served as program committee members for a number of premier international conferences related to intelligent data analysis, including EAI ICMTEL, ACAIT, ICCSE, etc.


Dr. Zeng has received a number of prestigious awards, including High-Level Talent of Fujian Province, Key-Talent of Xiamen City, Nanqiang Young-Top-Talent of Xiamen University, three Provincial Natural Science Awards, Invention and Entrepreneurship Achievement Award by the China Invention Association, and Distinguished Reviewers of Computers in Biology and Medicine, Neurocomputing, and Chinese Journal of Scientific Instrument.

Prof. Maria Pia Fanti, Fellow of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society

Maria Pia Fanti received the Laurea degree in electronic engineering from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, in 1983. She was a visiting researcher at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, New York, in 1999. Since 1983, she has been with the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering of the Polytechnic of Bari, Italy, where she is currently a Full Professor of system and control engineering and Chair of the Laboratory of Automation and Control. Currently, she is IEEE Fellow and Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association. Her research interests include management and modeling of transportation, logistics and manufacturing systems; discrete event systems; Petri nets; consensus protocols; fault detection. Prof. Fanti has published more than 335 papers and two textbooks on her research topics. 


She was senior editor of the IEEE Trans. on Automation Science and Engineering and she is Associate Editor of the IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems. She was member at large of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, and currently she is member of the AdCom of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, and chair of the Technical Committee on Automation in Logistics of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. Prof. Fanti was General Chair of the 2011 IEEE Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, the 2017 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and logistics, and Informatics and the 2019 IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Conference.

Prof. Lazim Abdullah, CIS Member

Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia


Lazim Abdullah is a Professor of Computational Mathematics at the Faculty of Ocean Engineering Technology and Informatics, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. He obtained his first degree from University of Malaya, in June 1984 and a master’s degree from the Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1999. He received his Ph.D from the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, in 2004. His research and expertise focuses on fuzzy set theory of mathematics, decision making, applied statistics,  and their applications to social ecology, environment, health sciences and management.   His research findings have been published in more than 360 publications including refereed journals, conference proceedings, chapters in book, monographs, and textbooks. He was ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists for single year 2019 by Stanford University in the field of artificial intelligence and image processing. Currently, he is the Head of Data and Digital Sciences Research Cluster at the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.  Prof Lazim is a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, and  a member of International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making.

Prof. Liansheng Wang

Xiamen University, China


Wang Liansheng is currently a professor at the School of Information at Xiamen University, a dual-appointed professor at the Department of Gastroenterology at the School of Medicine, a doctoral supervisor, the deputy director of the Digital Fujian Health and Medical Big Data Research Institute, and the deputy leader of the AI group of the Radiology Branch of the Fujian Medical Association, Vice Chairman of MICS. He has been engaged in medical image processing research for a long time. He has hosted and participated in a number of scientific research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China Instrument Project, the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Scientific and Technological Innovation 2030, the National Key R&D Project, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Youth Projects, etc. His publications include Nature Machine Intelligence , Nature Communications, Cell Patterns, TMI, MedIA, CVPR/AAAI and other related research papers, and won the Tencent Rhinoceros Research Award, CSPE Young Investigator, the second prize of the Fujian Province Science and Technology Progress Award, and the 2023 Xiamen University Field Award The first prize of the Zhaowu Interdisciplinary Award, and led the team to win the championship in international medical imaging competitions 11 times.

Binqiang Chen, Associate Professor, Supervisor of Master Degree. He is with School of Aerospace Engineering, Xiamen University, PRC. His research interests include equipment health monitoring, artificial intelligence and big data processing. He has presided over a number of research projects, including projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key R & D Program, Key Project of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Provincial Natural Science Foundation Project (Fujian & Guangdong). He has served as a reviewer for several internationally renowned academic journals, including “Mechanical systems and signal processing”, “IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics: Systems”, “IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement”, “Neurocomputing”, etc.

Prof. Zheng Fang

Zheng Fang was born in Dushan County, Guizhou, China, in 1976. He received the B.S. degree in automation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, Hubei, China, in 1998, the M.S. degree in automation from Naval University of Engineering, Wuhan, Hubei, China, in 2001 and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, Hubei, China, in 2008.
From 2001 to 2003, he was an Engineer in ZTE Corporation, Shenzhen, China. From 2008 to 2011, he was a Postdoc in automation in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. From 2011 to 2016, he was an Associate Professor with the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Xiamen University, Xiamen, China. Since 2016, he has been a Professor with the Department of Instrumental and Electrical Engineering, Xiamen University, Xiamen, China. He has published 70 papers, and holds 20 patents. His research interest is X-ray detection including biomedical imaging and non-destructive testing.
